Why are the Journey groups called “Generations”
As you may have gathered, the Journey is a group process involving a community of about 25 leaders who walk the two-year path together. Early in the process, we chose to call each of these groups a “generation”, rather than cohort or community. It stuck. In January 2012, we started Generation 20.
What is the cost of the Journey?
The cost is $750 per retreat (which is $4,500 over the two-year, six-retreat process). Spouses are welcome to participate at an additional $150 per retreat (which covers food and lodging).
Where are the retreats held?
What time do the retreats begin and end?
Each of the retreats begin on Tuesday at 2:00pm and end on Friday at 11:00am. We encourage participants to arrange their travel to be able to participate in every moment of each retreat. (There is also an group of Journey alumni that meet earlier in each retreat week from Sunday evening 6:00pm through Tuesday evening 8:00pm).
What are the retreat dates for my generation?
You can find all of the retreat dates for your generation on the creatively named “Journey Retreat Dates” page on our website.
What’s this I hear about a vegetarian menu?
Pine Springs Ranch is a Christian retreat center hosted by the Southeastern CA Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists. One of their traditions is a vegetarian menu. You are welcome to bring your own “menu supplements” if you wish. We provide lunch meat for the Wednesday afternoon box lunch for the day of extended personal communion (EPC) with God.
What about coffee?
Pine Springs Ranch does have a basic coffee machine, decaf and regular, in the cafeteria, but if you have refined preferences when it comes to things like these, many retreatants have chosen to “bring their own” coffee presses, Via packets, etc.
How do I register?
We have an online “Journey Application Form” to make this easy. We encourage registrants to set aside 15-20 minutes to reflect on the personal and ministry questions. These help us in discerning the make-up of an emerging generation.
What if I need to make a payment for an upcoming retreat?
We are able to take Paypal payments on our “Journey Payment Page.”
