What Is It?
The Journey, in response to an overflowing experience of God’s grace, will train and encourage participants in the implementation of a spirituality-based leadership development process to mentor disciples who can reach the next generations.
An action/reflection model of training will be utilized in which the participants will reflect together and learn from one another’s implementation of the ministry process being learned. The groups may also participate in on-site visits of ministries implementing this kind of process. Ministry resources can be pooled and shared with the entire group.
Participants will be encouraged to live out what they are learning in the Journey between retreats. Over the course of the retreats, participants will discern healthy rhythms of life and ministry. These rhythms will involve engagement in personal spiritual disciplines, corporate ministry disciplines, and readings that support both.
On the final day of each retreat, participants will identify the inward and outward steps God has given you in the course of the retreat. In between retreats, a Leadership Institute mentor is available to connect with you for encouragement, prayer and spiritual direction. We also encourage you to connect by e-mail or phone with one or two others from your generation for the purpose of staying updated and praying for each other.
Participants who attend at least five retreats and complete the personally discerned and assigned practices and readings in-between retreats can receive a Certificate of Completion in Spiritual Formation, Direction and Leadership.
